Michelle Osman, MD and Partner of Minerva Global from Alton, has just been announced as a winner at the 2019 NatWest everywoman Awards. Michelle was presented with the Athena Award, awarded to the most inspirational woman running a business trading from 6 to 9 years.

Michelle began her impressive career in commodities as a nut trader using her language skills to work in France, Germany and Switzerland. She developed her global business skills working with major confectioners such as Cadbury, managing the group’s global nut purchasing requirements. After securing investment, she founded her own trading platform, Minerva, and after just six years was approached by California’s largest almond growers to open a global sales office and set up EU operations. Merging the businesses in 2017, Michelle created one of the world’s biggest nut specialist businesses, comprising several companies and including the largest almond tree nursery in the world, producing three to five million trees annually. Michelle is committed to sustainable production methods and fair-trade practices, holding influential positions in numerous industry bodies, chairing The Nut Association for the past three years, and bringing the industry together to address global challenges.
